The Navy Hydrology Unit's Fokker F27 500 was flying around southern Adelaide again today under the callsign "Navy Survey". Tail Tag VH-EWP. This aircraft was seen late afternoon 17-6-08. Last I heard on the scanner at about 1805 hours local time, was a heading for Corny Point on the Yorke Peninsula.

I was lucky enough to snap this shot as the Fokker came east before heading off to Corney Point. The late afternoon sun was a nice touch to the photo.

EPIRB Signal Today

Several flights reported hearing an EPIRB signal on 121.5 on 17-6-08 at approximately 1625 local time. It was monitored by several aircraft for about 10 minutes. At this time ATC reported the authorities had IDENT on the unit and monitoring was no longer required.

If we hear any further info we will pass it on.

0945 Tuesday 3rd June 2008. We are still hearing about flight diversions to atlernates from Melbourne and Sydney.

Lucky Adelaide, still visual approaches.

Fokker F27

| | Comments (0)

On Friday 30 May 2008 in the early evening I heard NAVY 7 callsign on the scanner in the Adelaide area. Later on I heard a Fokker flying overhead and raced outside to grab a photo. Unfortunately, I was too late. It had already gone too far over. I did however notice it was an F27 not the usual Fokker 50.

The only F27 I know of at Adelaide is a NAVY F27. There are photos of it in the gallery.

I don't know if anyone can confirm this but if you can, please use the contact form and let us know.

I believe this is the only F27 still registered in Australia.

Storm Activity 24 May 2008

Listening to the scanner on Saturday night a little spot of weather came into Adelaide from the north west. A few lightning strikes were recorded in the Gulf St Vincent. The weather came in over Glenelg and Noarlunga. The rain band was not that big but it had some heavy spots accoring to the weather radar.
