Recently in Aviation Photography Category

25 October 2008 Goolwa hosted a fly in over the sat-sun weekend. 5DME attended on the Saturday morning and there was already a significant attendance. Several aircraft had arrived on the Friday night. There was a large variety of aircraft from vintage right through to modern. We estimate about 50-60 planes as they were not all on the ground together.

5DME photographers took plenty of stills and they will be uploaded to the gallery as soon as time permits.

On the 9th September 2008 a 2/3 scale Kitty Hawk was test flown at Aldinga. A local Aero Club member built the aircraft and it was piloted by an RAAF Test Pilot. Spectacular! No problems on maiden flight. Audience cheer as the aircraft lifts into the air. 5DME was there to capture images and video. See the galleries.

The Aldinga Aero Club held its 2008 Dawn Patrol on 14 September 2008. Acknowledging and remembering the Battle of Brittain. 5DME was there and we have added some new photographs to the gallery. Unfortunately we did not catch everyone but the was a special treat a Nanchang from Adelaide Warbirds. We even have some video, once edited it will be placed on the site.

7th August 2008 "Connie" the HARS restored Lockheed Super Constellation visited Adelaide for about 12 hours or so.

She arrived approximately 1630 on the 7th August and 5DME Photographers were there to capture her on video and in photographs.

Connie departed Adelaide at 1000 on the 8th August 2008.

We have added further images to our gallery. This collection was provided by Alliance Airlines. There are several images including in the hangar at Adelaide, the Outback and more.. See the Turboprop section.

We have had the opportunity to photograph a selection of Rossair Cessna 441s. They have been added to the Photo Gallery.

Also, there is a new selection of the Surf Rescue Helicopter (SA).

On June 24, 2008 I managed to capture some images of an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle at close range. See the photo gallery and the Related Resources page AARF for details.

On 22 June 2008 Patricia and I made a visit to Adelaide Airport with the intention of getting some photographs of night approaches. We were really lucky. The evening light was ok for the camera until nearly dusk. We took shots of approaching aircraft and decided to get some infrastructure too. We have a selection of approach lights to Adelaide runway 23 and PAPI. Check out the Photo Gallery. Look for 22 June 2008. You can even put this in the search box if you like.

Well, we have officially cracked the 300 photos on line. There are some nice new shots of aircraft and a great section from the Bureau of Meteorology. There is also a new page under the "REAL THING" about the Airport MET Office. Take a look, it's interesting.

Well, I took another 50 photos today but only uploaded about 22. This was because I was not happy with the perfomance on a new lens (in some images). It suffered vignetting around the out edges and refraction at extreme focal length. Many of the images were ok but I have decided not to use them.

We now have over 220 photos on line from around the Adelaide area.
