Anniversaries

| | Comments (0)

On 14th May 2009 it was the 50th anniversary of a Fokker F27 arriving at Adelaide. Two days later on the 16th May 2009 was the 50th anniversary of the first arrival of a Lockheed Electra (VH-RMB Source: Nigel Daw).

Nigel says, "we can still hear the same engines today on the AP-3C Orions."

Just a snapshot of significant aviation events in South Australia.

New Aviation Story

We have just added two new pages to the web site under AVIATION STORIES. One is outlining a collection held by the Civil Aviation Historical Society or South Australia (CAHSSA). This display use to accessable at the West Torrens Railway Signal Telegraph & Aviation Museum but is no longer open to the public. This page is the first (we hope) of many that will enable the display to be still seen by the public. Additions will be made to the Photo Gallery of individual items and descriptions.

See the Photo Gallery for more.

Secondly, another story about the West Torrens Railway Signal Telegraph & Aviation Museum. When photographing the aviation items one could not help but notice the collection of railway memorabilia. Although not the pervue of 5DME, the collection was so extensive we thought it worth a mention.

Please see the STORIES and GALLERY for more details.

The West Torrens Railway Signal Telegraph & Aviation Museum is also looking for a new home. If you may be able to assist, please contact Gordon Oats via the email links on the web pages.
