Evening Visit to Adelaide Airport

| | Comments (0)
On 22 June 2008 Patricia and I made a visit to Adelaide Airport with the intention of getting some photographs of night approaches. We were really lucky. The evening light was ok for the camera until nearly dusk. We took shots of approaching aircraft and decided to get some infrastructure too. We have a selection of approach lights to Adelaide runway 23 and PAPI. Check out the Photo Gallery. Look for 22 June 2008. You can even put this in the search box if you like.

300 Photos

Well, we have officially cracked the 300 photos on line. There are some nice new shots of aircraft and a great section from the Bureau of Meteorology. There is also a new page under the "REAL THING" about the Airport MET Office. Take a look, it's interesting.

This is the only Fokker F27 still registered in Australia.

Another 50 Photos

| | Comments (0)

Well, I took another 50 photos today but only uploaded about 22. This was because I was not happy with the perfomance on a new lens (in some images). It suffered vignetting around the out edges and refraction at extreme focal length. Many of the images were ok but I have decided not to use them.

We now have over 220 photos on line from around the Adelaide area.

New Gallery Categories

Today we introduced two new categories to the photo gallery.

Gliders. No images a s yet but we'll be on the lookout.

Other (Grab Bag) for all the images that don't fit into other categories.

Our 200 strong photo gallery will be growing again with another airport visit planned soon!

With the latest additions to the Photo Gallery we now have over 200 photos from our members on line. Not bad work for the short time the site has been going. We hope to add many more.

On Tuesday 3rd June 2008 aircraft had to divert to alternate destinations from Melbourne and to some extent from Sydney. As of 0945 they were still broadcasting on local news services to call your airline to confirm flights.

Here in Adelaide they were still doing visual approaches. Lucky eh!

Video Collection Growing

5DME now has 9 videos on line. All are short excerpts that have been edited from when we go on photo shoots. We hope to bring your more aviation video from Adelaide and Aldinga soon.

5DME now 180+ photos

Last weekend when I visited Aldinga with Patricia we took about 100 photos. We have so far uploaded about 30 which takes our on-line tally to over 180 images. We are looking forward to cracking the 200 barrier soon.

RISING FUEL BILLS AND CUT SERVICES

It seems the average motorist is not the only one feeling the pinch of fuel prices. QANTAS and it's subsidiary Jetstar are to ground aircrfaft because of higher fuel bills. See the article here.
