We have introduced a page that provides details on aircraft types seen at Adelaide. Various information will be gathered and added to the pages. This includes specifications, airline and status.
We'll add the pictures first, followed by the data.
The page can be accessed from THE REAL THING menu.
I made a visit to Aldinga Airfield today. There was not much going on but I did manage to meet the management and discuss taking photos and video for the site. They made me feel most welcome and I managed to get some new photo stock and video.
The video has been edited and is on line in the Video Gallery. Selected photos have been added to the Piston/Classic and Light Aircraft sections.
I will be keeping tabs on Aldinga and visiting again when there is more going on.
There have been a few additions and changes to the 5DME site layout. The menu system has been upgraded and there are now a few new sections.
Firstly the site has been segregated into "The Real Thing" and "Flight Sim" sections.
The REAL THING now contains:
- Photo Gallery
- Video Gallery
- Glossary now A-M & N-Z
- Site Map for Java Script lame browsers
- Airwave split into ATC and HFplus NDBs
The Photo Gallery is also included in the main menu for convenience.
Note: If you want to list all images and not use the categories just leave the seach box blank on the item page and click SEARCH. (You must be in a category first).

On 14 May 2008 I put the 747-400 Push Back video on our You Tube Channel (ODLWEB) and within an hour or so we had 35 hits and two comments. One person (the first commenter) must not have watched the whole video and indicated we did not know our planes. They failed to realise they were just looking at our leader/tag. Not long after another commenter set them straight :-)
The second comment was most favourable and we would like to inform the reader/viewer to keep watching as we intend to add many more videos to the 5DME.NET selection and the ODLWEB channel on You Tube.

I have just added a new allotment of photographs and video footage from our 10th May 2008 visit to Adelaide Airport. Visit the Photo Gallery to see the latest.
On Saturday May 10 2008, we visited Adelaide Airport with our cameras. We have many shots taken from various locations together with a substantial amount of video. It was a bit of a learning curve to get the video right but we will try again next time. You can see an edited version at http://www.5dme.net/realthing.html (the Real Thing Page). We are working on the stability issues that are involved with recording at extreme zoom on the camera.
SteadyCam here we come!
I am getting a couple of lens adaptors for my camera today. Hopefully we should have some nice pictures when I use the 2x teleconverter and .5x wide angle lens.
I can only imagine what the 2x teleconverter will do for a lens that is 300mm already.
